Brochure features interactive monthly tours of York Regional Forest

NEWMARKET – The Regional Municipality of York has released the 2008 Take a Walk in the Forest brochure, which details our program of monthly interactive group tours of the York Regional Forest.

The forest walks are free, family-oriented tours that take place once each month in different York Regional Forest tracts. The themed tours are led by York Region Forestry staff and often have guest speakers/tour guides that speak about the various plants, animals and benefits that forests provide to our communities.

The final monthly event of 2007 – the Jingle Bell Walk – is scheduled for Saturday, December 15th at the Hollidge Tract, located at 16389 Highway 48, on the east side of Highway 48 between Vivian and Aurora Roads. Learn about jingle bells and the benefits of a natural Christmas tree.

Donations of winter mitts, scarves, hats and non-perishable foods will also be collected.

For more information on York Region’s free monthly forest walks, please download the 2008 brochure from our website www.york.ca or call 1 877 464-9675, extension 5241.
