WIDENED 19th AVENUE BRIDGE OPENS IN MARKHAM
Markham, ON ~ Join Mayor Frank Scarpitti and Members of Markham Council at the reopening of the 19th Avenue bridge.

Date: November 20, 2008
Time: 1:30 p.m.
Location: 19th Avenue Bridge
19th Avenue – between Markham Road and 9th Line

The 19th Avenue bridge was constructed in 1930 over the Little Rouge Creek and was originally only six metres wide. Construction began in July 2008 to build the new bridge, which has been widened to 13 metres using High Performance Concrete to increase the durability and prolong the life of the structure. This is part of Markham’s ongoing “Bridge Program” which monitors, maintains and upgrades existing bridge structures to ensure safety and meet the needs of our rapidly growing community.

As part of the ceremony a commemorative plaque will be unveiled and a tree will be planted as part of the Markham Trees for Tomorrow program.
