York Regional Police, in partnership with Tim Hortons store owners, will once again present local children with bicycles, helmets and locks as part of the Tim Hortons Earn-a-Bike Program.
On Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at 4:30 p.m., at the Tim Hortons located at 50 Red Maple Road in the Town of Richmond Hill, thirty children from the area who have completed thirty hours of community service over the past two months will be awarded bicycles, helmets and locks.
On Thursday, July 2, 2009, at 4:30 p.m., at the Tim Hortons located at 9151 Keele Street, an additional thirty children will receive their bicycles, helmets and locks for their efforts over the past two months.
The Tim Hortons Earn-a-Bike program is a community-oriented sponsorship program where children between the ages of 10 and 14 years old team up with community partners to help clean up their local streets, parks and schools. Each participant completes 30 hours of community service and is rewarded with a brand new bicycle and helmet. Children are selected to be in the program by their schools or other local agencies and by York Regional Police who also co-ordinate the program and provide supervision while the kids are out doing their part to make their community a cleaner, brighter place to live.
Everyone is invited to attend these two events and help recognize these fine young citizens for their outstanding contributions to our community.
