Now 28 years old, Mike Zigomanis started playing hockey at age seven. He played for several years in Markham as part of the Markham Thunder (Minor Atom), Markham AAA (Major Novice) and Unionville Jets (Novice). He later moved to Kingston to play for the Frontenacs in the Ontario Hockey League.
In 2001, he represented Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championships. Not long after, Zigomanis, who plays centre, was drafted 46th overall into the National Hockey League, and has since suited up for the Carolina Hurricanes, St. Louis Blues, Phoenix Coyotes and the Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins. |
