Celebrating its 30th Anniversary, United Way of York Region is recognized as a leading, trusted organization that unites donors, volunteers, human service providers and their clients to improve the quality of life in the communities of York Region. United Way works with many stakeholders to develop long term solutions to enhance the quality of life in our communities. United Way strengthens our communities by raising awareness of the emerging needs and chronic under funding of human services in York Region and actively addressing those needs by raising funds and allocating resources. We raise moneyStrong volunteer leadership and generous support from donors resulted in a record $7.65 million fund raising campaign in 2005. We distribute money where need is greatestUnited Way of York Region's Community Fund supports 40 York Region agencies providing funding to over 100 critical programs. Funds are directed to five priority areas:Affordable Housing and Homelessness Domestic Violence and Abuse Literacy Mental Health Newcomers and Immigrants Regular Community Needs Assessments ensure funding priorities reflect current issues in York Region.
